If you want to break out of the sandwich generation then you must sacrifice for yourself to achieve it; not relying on anyone. My wife and me belongs to this generation before but not anymore now. Our sacrifices: - strive to earn more - don't spoon feed your brothers/sister or even relatives - learn to say 'NO' - keep your lifestyle insync with your salary (save more) - save money for the future - you can't make everyone happy The greatest sacrifice for us is not having a child for almost 4 years. Average families will always fall into this category.

If you want to break out of the sandwich generation then you must sacrifice for yourself to achieve it; not relying on anyone.

My wife and me belongs to this generation before but not anymore now.

Our sacrifices:
- strive to earn more

I don't want to be a financial burden to my kids. Both my parents are working and will have a good retirement so I guess they will not rely on us too much.
